Attention: America's Diehard Sports Fans

Sports observations from the last few days (January 5, 2013 - January 8, 2013 :

Seattle Seahawks Vs. Washington Redskins (Wild card Game). It is my opinion that RGlll should not have been playing. After playing the game in my younger days, we were always told, "You can play with pain but not with injury." This young man (RGlll) stated he was okay and the coaches allowed him to play. He is their franchise player and they ran the risk of losing a valuable commodity and tremendously valuable asset. Plus, unlike many teams, they have a extremely capable backup, (Cousins). The coaching staff should have discussed this matter with the medical staff and the team doctor should have authorized him to play. I'm not sure of all of the details but their seems to be a doctor said, coach said question of what was actually said and by whom. I don't understand this. Perhaps someone in Washington can clarify this issue. This inquiring mind would just like to know!!! They were in the process of building a great team for the future, Will this be a setback? Thoughts please.......

NHL Hockey Season. Today the NHL Hockey Board of Governors will vote on the new NHLPA contract. The players will vote on it later this week. I don't understand what this strike was all about. Someone, please enlighten me. I just don't get the pissing contest between the billionaires (owners) and the millionaires (players) and then the people that really support them, popularize the sport and keep them going (the fans) are held hostage. They are punished with only seeing a half season and increased ticket prices. Is this fair to the fan? Can anyone explain the owner's or player's position in this matter? Please, please someone break this down for me. Why did this have to happen? This matter has me lost, excited, dazed and confused? Help me with this........

BCS National Championship Game (Notre Dame Vs. Alabama). I really didn't expect Notre Dame to win this game honestly, however, I didn't expect them to get steamrolled either. I thought they might lose by seven to nine points and even cover the ten point spread. Alabama is too big, too fast and too strong. Coach Kelly did a terrific coaching job this year and is doing a great job of rebuilding ND's program. And yes, it will get better and he will get another good crop of recruits. They need to get in the weight room as they were over matched by size on both lines. That's just a fact. Next year, Alabama, Oregon, Ohio State and a few other SEC teams are going to be going at it for the National Championship. Competition truly does breed excellence. Northwestern (Big 10) and Vanderbilt (SEC) are two example of schools that use to be the perennial doormats of their conferences. They have superb young coaches that have put together plans and are following them to build solid programs. Watch them and see where they go in the future. Their possibilities are infinite....... You think?
